The Value of Site Maps
When talking about SEO (Search Engine Optimization), one of the most important things we should talk about is your site map. The purpose behind your site map is to make it easy for your customers to find exactly what they are looking for without having to travel through complicated menus and unorganized web sites. But.....
If you site is crisp and clean and organized you might ask yourself, why you would need a site map. Here is your answer.
Site maps are a collection of links to your web site with a text link that explains exactly what it is attached to. There are a few things that are very important to Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask and the other top search engines and that is TEXT and LINKS. If your site map provides both of these for you. So when building your web site, make sure you have a registered site map with Google and Yahoo. Watch your rankings soar.

The Power of Links Revisited

This week somebody asked me why I put my important client links on my blog and why I promote the power of trading links from my blog to my clients web sites.
I guess this is as good as any time to cover this since I placed it in my newsletter this week.
Web Links are a very powerful tool in promoting your web site. First of all I think it is important to point out that "Quality Links" are much more important that the "Quanity of Links". So when exchanging links with others, you want to make sure that they have similar keywords, or content or that you have something on your web sites in common with each other. Before sitting up links go with the quality of your links first, then if you have to, use the quantity factor second. If you look on any of my blogs, forums, or even my facebook page you will notice that many of my clients web site links are available in some form. If you go to their web sites, you will find links to my web site somewhere on those sites. Now I will be the first to admin that these are not quality links.....because I am linking from their web site to my web site, but I am linking from my blog to their web site. This by definition is not considered a great link. But when you add them together with the quality of keywords then you see more power in the tools.
